Definitions of “No” to a Toddler

My toddler started saying “no” recently. First it was used for “no, I don’t have a poopy diaper” and has quickly become his favorite adverb. NO

To a toddler, the word “no” has many definitions, including:

  1. No, thank you
  2. Oh, hell no
  3. Not right now… okay, now
  4. Just kidding
  5. Stop
  6. Mine
  7. And, my all time favorite – Yes

It’s exhausting trying to keep up with the varying meanings, but we moms are smart and our toddlers just want to see us reach our full potential. Be sure to tell them thank you for this opportunity, which could also be said as “no.”

Have a great weekend!
